Bernard
Leboucq and Yvan De Baets, two Brussels brewers, first had a
microbrewery in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, but because it was too small, they
fled to Brussels. They brew beers are not filtered in a traditional
manner, not pasteurized, with no additives. The name of the beer refers
to the "Zinnekes". This comes from the Senne, the river that flows
through Brussels. Zinneke means little or Senne Zenneke but was also the
name of a street dog, which was sometimes thrown into the Senne. The
zinnekes is also the name of the people living in Brussels. There are
all kinds Zinnekes activities. The beer was developed as a hobby brewer
in 2002 by Bernard Leboucq the occasion of the Zinnekeparade.
