Yperman was brewed as a tribute to Dr Yperman. This surgeon worked and lived during the middle-ages in the nearby city of Ieper. He was and is still highly respected for his contribution to the modern surgical world. The local Jan Yperman hospital is honoring his legacy, by being one of the best reputed surgical institutes. |
This high fermented ale starts sweet and a light aroma suggests a fruity character which is supported by a smell of fine herbs. Medium body and foamy carbonation are the introduction to spicy malt with a hinge of caramel and toffee. The middle taste suggests fine hops and malt evolving to a surprising bitter Ale taste. The after drink keeps the bitter taste, but ends with fresh and soft herbal sweetness. |
Yperman was the mother of beer Lokernaere. This label beer has been brewed since 1995, but now it is no longer on the market. |
